Dartboard Dimensions: Regulation Distance, Height and Other Things to Obtain a Perfect Dartboard Setup
Regulation Dartboard Dimensions
Dartboard Diameter
The standard diameter measurement (from one side of the circle to the other) is 17.75" (451mm).
Other Dartboard Dimensions
- Outer bullseye diameter: 1.26"
- Inner bullseye diameter: .5" (no wonder it's so hard to hit)
- Depth of board: 1.5"
Distances from oche and bullseye
What in the world is an oche? The oche is a fancy word for throw line - and the regulation distance from this throw line to the dartboard is 7 feet 9.25 inches (2.37 meters).
Use measuring tape to mount your dartboard 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 meters) from the floor to the center of the bullseye. Be sure to securely mount the board so there is no movement during play - cheater.
Key Components of a Dartboard
Numbered Sections:
- There are 20 numbered strips for scoring, each with sections worth double and triple the score (hitting the triple 20 is worth more than the bullseye - you're welcome).
- The bullseye has an outer ring worth 25 points and an inner ring worth 50
How to Choose the Best Dartboard and Dart Cabinet Materials for Durability
Dartboard Materials
- The best dart boards are made of sisal fibers. These fibers are far more durable than other options and will increase the longevity of your board.
- Often times the board is mounted onto a cork backboard, protecting the wall around the dart board from stray darts.
Dart Cabinet
- If the dart board is mounted into a cabinet (like the best, most stunning dart cabinets we sell here), the material choice comes down to your preference. All our dart cabinets are made from solid hardwoods like walnut, oak, and maple.
In summary, there's a lot more to consider when buying a dartboard or dart cabinet than you (and I) probably anticipated. Hopefully this article did more good than harm in steering you in the right direction.
