What is your name and what do you do at Sean Woolsey Studio? Ashlyn / Ash. I think a better question is what I don't do! I don't design, but I help run the business, customer service, coordinating w/ vendors, water the plants, buy our oat milk, and keep all our things in the shop stocked. But I get to build too - which is why I'm here in the first place!

If you were to own one piece we make, what would it be? Probably a walnut Pong Springs in some cream or our Sedona textured powder coat + matching benches : )

What is your favorite tool to use? I think I can get lost (in a good way) using most tools, but I'll never get tired of a good hand planer. Or maybe the lathe - they're both so much fun and very satisfying to use.

What book has had the biggest impact on you, and what did you learn from it? Definitely the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark, I try to read it every year. It has helped keep my life from spinning out of control from all the things I try to do at once very quickly. It reminds me to slow down and be very intentional with how I spend my time + energy - life is so much more meaningful that way.

Who is your biggest role model and why? Am I allowed to say Jesus? haha - for obvious reasons.
If you met yourself 10 years from now, what advice would you hope they followed? In college I kinda developed this mantra to just keep doing things that scare me - it keeps life interesting and me out of my comfort zone.

I think some of the best parts of my life have been found by doing this, including woodworking. If you had 100% confidence, what would you do? Hmmm I'd probably live my life how I am right now but more intense? Surf bigger waves, ski steeper runs, take more risks in the shop, start my own side business, etc.
What is the favorite place you have traveled. This is a hard one - I loved the Azores Island of Terceira off of Portugal. I traveled there solo because that's where my grandmother was born and I was curious. It was an amazing trip. I also love Costa Rica and want to go back - both for the people, slow pace of life, and waves!

Current favorite song / artist? Sunbeam Sound Machine or a mix of 70's / 80's rock
If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be? I feel like the responsible thing to say would be handling my money or investing or something. But honestly I'd choose skiing, I wish SO much that I grew up doing it and could do flips or something.
Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly? FLY.
